Lancelot Theobald Jr. – Performing Arts Innovator

From athlete to artist, Lancelot Theobald Jr. has built a career at the intersection of discipline, creativity, and innovation. His journey through football, entrepreneurship, acting, and choreography has shaped him into a multifaceted performer whose influence spans theater, dance, music, and film.

The Power of Reinvention

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lancelot learned resilience from an early age. A standout athlete, he earned a full football scholarship to the University of Maine, where he led his team to championships and earned national recognition. But after pursuing professional football in the U.S. and Europe, he transitioned into the performing arts—proving that artistry and athleticism share the same foundation: dedication, precision, and passion.

Dance Training & Artistic Development

Lancelot’s transformation began with a full dance scholarship at Bernice Johnson’s Dance School in Queens, where he studied Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap, and African dance. His athletic background gave him a unique physicality, while his artistic training allowed him to explore rhythm, movement, and storytelling on an entirely new level. This commitment to craft became the cornerstone of his work as both a performer and choreographer.

Stage & Performance Highlights

Over the years, Lancelot has graced stages and collaborated on productions that blend traditional performance with bold, contemporary energy. His credits include:

Broadway & Cabaret

Indigo Dancers at the Kit Kat Club

Opera

Samson et Delilah with Plácido Domingo at the Metropolitan Opera

National & International Tours

Middle Class Black Folk in the Claire de Lune (actor & choreographer)

Special Productions

Choreographer for Six Flags Great Adventure’s closing ceremonies.

Innovator in Dance Education

A true visionary in the performing arts, Lancelot developed the Theobald Tap Technique (T3)—a pioneering method that redefines how dancers master rhythm and form. T3 has been taught at prestigious institutions including Adelphi University and Berest Dance Studio, inspiring the next generation of performers to push boundaries and refine their craft.
